Authorial meeting full of distraction

Publishing house Pectus in cooperation with Public library of Ján Bocatius in Košice organized for the literature lovers the authorial discussion with Ľudovít Petraško and Peter Karpinský. On April 29th 2010 at 5.00 p.m. in the Photo Gallery Nova in Košice both authors presented their latest works to public – Petraško presented the novel Bygone Times and Karpinský, one of the finalists for the prize Anasoft Litera, his short story book Antisumption. During the meeting, authors amused themselves with a play of random questions and answers related to the circumstances influencing their literary production. It was quite “difficult” for them to justify “their” answers in the most appropriate way and according to own taste. The authors themselves and also the audience had great fun. The audience had possibility to get to know the authors not only as interprets of artistic texts, but mainly as the personalities who are able to enjoy the literature and the most common life peripeties. Main actors have convincingly showed that writing doesn’t have to be necessarily connected with troubles, but that it can also bring the joy from creation. Finally, they gave several participated readers the signature to their book.

First edition of Litteriada Festival meets participants’ expectations

E-mail Print

The first edition of the annual Litteriada Festival may be said to have fulfilled the expectations of its Slovak and foreign participants. Public dialogue took place, the writers had the chance to get to know each other and to discuss the issues that most concern them, issues which certainly do not concern Slovak writers exclusively. The Pectus Publishing House successfully arranged the publication of two Slovak and three foreign book titles in time for them to be presented at the Festival. The principal organizer expects the Litteriada in the future to become a traditional literary festival with international participation, which will go on adding to Košice’s prestige as European Capital of Culture 2013. This is confirmed by media responses abroad, although the foreign guests themselves expressed some surprise that the city and its leading representatives did not participate in the project. So the principal organizer is contemplating putting on a second edition of the Festival, intending to present some new literary faces there. In the meantime Pectus wants to publish books by some of the future participants. It is also no secret that some feedback is expected from continuing cross-border cooperation, possibly confirmed through the publication of books by Slovak writers in foreign countries.
